What are you shipping?
Prohibited Package
Due to the rigors of shipping, LugLess does not allow for shipping in:
- Moving bags
- Plastic containers
Shipping with prohibited packaging voids your right to file a claim, even if the items are covered. We prohibit these because they cannot withstand the rigors of transit, and often break or result in lost items.
- Pro tip: While items can be shipped in travel-ready duffel bags, we only recommend doing so if you secure the straps, properly pad your items, and lock the zippers. Otherwise, we recommend more supportive packaging.
Luggage
LugLess can ship both hard and soft-sided suitcases that are sturdy, in good condition, and properly seal. Any old airline tickets or barcodes must be removed. The items inside your suitcases should be packed tightly, so they don’t move around during transit.

Luggage FAQs
What size category should I choose for my suitcase? You can confirm this using our calculator!
Should I box my luggage? For the most protection, we recommend doing so, though it’s not required. Carriers may try to convince you otherwise, but keep in mind that they charge for packing services, and it may be in their interest to turn you into a paying customer.
Should I lock my luggage? Yes! You must secure your bag with either a lock or zip tie. Failure to lock items will void your right to file a claim for lost or missing contents.
Is my luggage covered? If you opt for coverage, yes, your suitcase is covered! If you ship an unboxed suitcase, compensation for the suitcase itself is capped at $200. Cosmetic damage like dents and scratches is not covered, and neither is damage to wheels, zippers, or handles. We outline the entire scope of our coverage here.
What should I do about the straps/handles? To avoid issues, ensure that all handles are fastened closed, and consider taping down any straps.
What's the best luggage for shipping? Any good condition suitcase will do, but we recommend quality polycarbonate or aluminum bags with TSA locks built in. We’re a fan of Away suitcases!
What if my suitcase has a rechargeable battery? If your suitcase has an ejectable battery, make sure to remove it prior to transit! Batteries can not be shipped with our carriers.
Can I wrap my luggage in clear wrap? Yes, you can wrap your luggage for added protection, however, you’ll want to ensure the label is still in clear view and scannable.
Boxes
LugLess can ship new (or like new), heavy-duty, double-walled, corrugated cardboard boxes that are free of tears, rips, bends, or water damage. Always make sure to size appropriately; if your box bulges or loses its boxy shape, it’s overpacked and at risk of damage. Use a larger box or split your shipment into two boxes. (Overpacking or inadequate packing voids your right to file a claim.)

Boxes FAQ
What size category should I choose for my boxes? You can confirm this using our calculator!
Are my boxes covered? While LugLess provides coverage for the contents of your boxes, boxes themselves are not covered.
Can I tape two boxes together and use one label? No, boxes cannot be combined, and each box needs its own label. Shipping multiple items using one label can result in delays, damage, or loss.
What boxes do we recommend? Most local moving or hardware stores offer boxes, however, they can also be found online. Always confirm your size category using our calculator; we recommend the following for our categories: Little Box, Big Box, Oversize Box.
Can I ship plastic boxes? As they are not sturdy enough to withstand the rigors of transit, shipping plastic boxes, containers, or totes is prohibited—doing so voids your right to file a claim.
Can I reuse an old box? A box can only be reused if it is in like-new condition, without damage or wear. Any previous labels must be removed.
Can I use another carrier’s box? No, you cannot ship a UPS box with FedEx or vice versa. You can, however, ship a Home Depot or Walmart box with any carrier.
Sports Equipment
LugLess makes shipping your skis, clubs, or other sports equipment easy with our dedicated categories. You can ship your items directly in a travel-ready bag.
Sports Equipment FAQs
Do I have to box my equipment? While LugLess recommends boxing items for added protection, it is not required.
Is my boot bag included in my shipping label for skis, or does it need its own label? Boot bags do ship separately, usually within our Carry-on bag category. Always confirm using our calculator.
Can I ship my baseball or cricket items using the ski or golf category? Yes, you can ship any similarly shaped/size sports equipment that fits within our categories.
