Where will my items be delivered?
You can generally expect deliveries wherever larger packages are normally accepted or received. Because delivery procedures can vary by destination, please review what to expect:
- Delivery to a hotel → As long as the name on your hotel reservation is listed as the recipient on your delivery address, the hotel can accept your luggage for you. Once you arrive, your items will likely be waiting at the front desk. Always alert the hotel before delivery, and confirm any procedures they may have.
- Delivery to a single-family home → If you ship directly to a single-family residence, our carriers will deliver your luggage to your front door, or wherever packages are normally delivered on your property.
- Delivery to an apartment → Carriers deliver shipments to the same place where larger packages are delivered in your building or complex. This is typically a mailroom, security office, common area, or leasing office.
- Delivery to a short-term rental → Like LugLess, Airbnb and other short-term rental services are a convenient way to travel. We also know that shipping to an address that is not yours can be tricky. To remedy this, we recommend shipping to a carrier hold point.
- Delivery to a college campus → Due to safety protocols, drivers are not allowed to deliver directly to your dorm. You can expect your items at the campus package room.
- Delivery to a business → Shipments will be delivered to the shipping and receiving area in most commercial buildings, just like any other delivery. Items may be delivered to the loading dock. Always alert the business in advance that you’ll be shipping to them, and confirm any procedures they may have.
- Delivery to a storage unit → Carriers will deliver your shipment to the same spot where the storage facility accepts deliveries. Drivers will not be able to deliver to your storage unit directly or place your items in your unit. Always alert the business in advance that you’ll be shipping to them.
- Delivery to a cruise → LugLess does not ship directly to your cruise ship. Consider shipping to the hotel you are staying at before embarkation, or a nearby carrier hold point.
- Delivery to an airport → LugLess does not ship directly to airports. Consider shipping to a nearby carrier hold point.
To provide the carrier with specific delivery instructions, you’ll want to reach out to them directly.
How do I collect my shipment from the holding location?
When you arrive at your destination, you will go to the hold point you selected to pick up your delivery. Be sure to bring a photo ID that matches the name on your shipping label, as it is required to collect your shipment. Locations can hold shipments for up to 5 business days after delivery. Failure to collect your items in time may result in them being returned to the sender.
There may be an additional handling fee due upon pickup if you shipped to a location inside a hotel or convention center. We recommend avoiding these fees by shipping to an alternate carrier location nearby. LugLess cannot refund fees issued by these locations.
When will my luggage be delivered?
Typically, shipments arrive by 5:00 PM at businesses and 7:00 PM at residences. If you chose a support plan with a guarantee, your delivery is guaranteed by 11:59 PM on the scheduled delivery date. On the day of delivery, the carrier will usually provide a delivery window on the tracking page. As soon as your item is delivered, LugLess will send you an alert.
Keep in mind our team is unable to provide a delivery window outside of what is shown on the tracking page. If you contact the carrier directly, they may be able to provide a narrower delivery window.
Note: Carriers have guaranteed commit times by service and location. Air services are generally delivered by 10:30 AM or 12:00 PM.
Do I need to be home for delivery?
Because LugLess deliveries do not require a signature, generally, you do not need to be present. If the driver cannot complete delivery for whatever reason, they may:
- Leave a door tag → If the driver does not feel it’s safe to leave a shipment, they may reschedule an attempt for the following business day. Usually, they will leave a door tag indicating the attempt and providing instructions for the next.
- Redirect your shipment to a holding point → If the driver does not feel it’s safe to leave a shipment, and there is a holding location in the immediate vicinity, they may deliver your luggage to the drop point so you can collect it at your convenience. Always reach out to the location to confirm the pickup procedure.
Carriers may attempt the delivery up to three times, after which your item may be returned to the origin address. If you received a failed delivery attempt notification, immediately reach out to the carrier to correct the issue.
FAQs
What if my building uses Fetch? Fetch is a service some complexes may utilize to accept deliveries. Once a shipment is accepted by Fetch, it is considered delivered by the carrier. For assistance locating your items, reach out to your leasing office to determine where deliveries are ultimately collected.
Can I require a signature? LugLess deliveries do not require a signature, however, our carriers will only complete a delivery if they feel it safe to. Consider having your shipment held for pickup for a delivery that requires ID.
Can my delivery arrive early? Deliveries are guaranteed on or before the date selected, however, we will always alert you if an early delivery is expected. You can find this on your trip itinerary as well.
Will I be called when the packages are delivered? You will receive an email alert once your items are delivered!
The carrier attached a tracker to my shipment; what do I do with it? This is part of a program allowing carriers to upgrade their tracking capabilities; if your luggage or box has one attached after delivery, you can return it to any carrier location or dispose of it accordingly.
